I wouldn't say that this book is particularly necessary, but as I found myself studying This is a companion book to House of Leaves , consisting of nothing but the letters written by Pelafina to Johnny. And of course you can lean on me. This reminded me of people I've worked with, that I'd studied in grad school. A new version with stitched illustrations was released in the United States including a limited-edition release featuring a latched box that held the book. They exist in the one chilling letter that is both in House of Leaves and The Whalestoe Letters and it made me afraid to decode more, to see what horror Pelafina went through, if she went through anything.
